The Rhode Island Current published an important op-ed this week written by Sojourner House’s President and CEO, Vanessa Volz. In the piece, Vanessa makes a case for the V.I.C.T.I.M Act, a bill that would create a dedicated $30M line item for victim services in the state budget.
This funding would help to ensure the future and stability of organizations like Sojourner House, Day One – Rhode Island’s Sexual Assault & Trauma Resource Center, Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center, Adoption Rhode Island and many more who provide lifesaving support to victim of abuse.
“This legislation represents a pivotal moment for our state — a chance to align our values with our actions and recognize that victim services are essential, not optional,” wrote Vanessa.
