In 2025, approximately 20% of all Sojourner House clients reported having experienced sexual abuse as children. Looking specifically at the survivors of sexual assault we supported that year, 50% reported having experienced sexual abuse as children.
It’s with this knowledge that our team is advocating for legislation that looks to make the justice process more accessible for victims of abuse and hold perpetrators of child sexual violence accountable for their crimes.
“There needs to be a cultural shift in the way that we think about this type of abuse going forward,” Sojourner House’s Research and Policy Director, Jessica Kiebler, told The Brown Daily Herald in a recent interview. “Violence is not an isolated incident, but often relates to further abuse in adulthood.” To read the full story, click the link below.
