Providence, RI— On Wednesday, December 3rd, Sojourner House announced that it has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Foxwynd Foundation to provide crisis housing to families impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
“At a time when the demand for housing is far greater than we can meet, grants like this are a lifeline,” said Vanessa Volz, President and CEO of Sojourner House. “At Sojourner House, we’re working to ensure that victims of abuse never have to choose between housing and harm. We’re eternally grateful to the Foxwynd Foundation for investing in that mission and helping us to provide families fleeing from violence with safe housing, warmth, and compassion.”
In its 2025 fiscal year (July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025), Sojourner House supported more than 2,000 Rhode Islanders during times of crisis.

Across numerous years, the family’s philanthropic endeavors have catalyzed significant change on both domestic and international fronts, reflecting their deep-rooted commitment to humanitarian causes. This longstanding legacy of giving underscored the imperative to establish a family foundation in 2024.
