POSITION: Housing Clinician
REPORTS TO: Director of Clinical Services
LOCATION: Providence and Northern, RI
SCHEDULE: Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
COMPENSATION: Salary is based on credentials and experience. Without license: Range of $58,000 – $70,000, With license: Range of $60,000 – $75,000. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Housing Clinician will work closely with the housing department’s programs and teams to develop and offer solution-focused interventions that promote stability, wellness and recovery, with the goal of providing trauma informed therapy and clinical case management to clients in our housing programs, to include our Permanent Supportive Housing Program (PSH) and Rapid Rehousing Programs (RRH). Interventions with clients include developing a behavioral health plan, in-person risk assessment, level of care determination and appropriate referral, case collaboration, and clinical case management. The position reports to the Clinical Director. The Housing Clinician will coordinate care and work very closely with the housing and program staff.
PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES (in descending order of priority):
• Provide individual counseling, assessment, and safety planning to clients in Sojourner House’s PSH and RRH programs. These clients have struggled with housing insecurity and have been exposed directly to violence. Oftentimes, they are struggling with PTSD related symptoms, , substance abuse issues, and other serious mental health concerns and basic needs deficits.
• Offer support to housing staff by providing on-site crisis intervention, risk assessment, and advocacy to clients
• Work with the clinical director to develop strategies for services, participation, and retention
• Offer groups and other therapeutic interventions to housing clients of Sojourner House.
• Offer clinical case management and systems advocacy to clients in various settings such as court, DCYF, and DHS.
• Travel between Sojourner House sites and to clients’ homes to offer therapy where needed.
• Communicate with other Sojourner House staff, client’s social supports, and other involved agencies as appropriate
• Collaborate with Sojourner House staff members, providing case consultation support when necessary. Attend team meetings
• Comply with mandated reporting requirements and immediately communicate all concerns about child abuse and neglect to DCYF as mandated by law.
• Complete data entry and clinical documentation and submit necessary reports as required for grant compliance and billing reimbursements. Prepare and deliver community presentations when requested. Perform other duties as requested by the Clinical Director.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a master’s degree in Social Work or Mental Health counseling, and must be registered or certified with, or licensed by, either the Rhode Island Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline, the Rhode Island Board of Registration of Social Workers, the Rhode Island Board of Psychology, or the Rhode Island Department of Health as a Mental Health Counselor or a Therapist in Marriage or Family Practice, or by an equivalent state licensing authority upon hire or within 6 months of hire.

- LCSW or LICSW preferred – licensure supervision support is available for LCSW’s
- Professional experience and training in providing therapy to people impacted by trauma.
- Professional experience and specialized training in serving people who are unhoused, particularly those who struggle with severe and chronic mental illness.
- Experience in providing clinical case management support with a strong sense of local support resources.
- Extensive understanding of domestic violence and its effects on people across the lifespan, including the impact of trauma on brain development and functioning.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle as this position requires travel between sites.
- Bilingual candidates are strongly preferred.
