50th Anniversary Breakfast

For half a century, Sojourner House has served as a safe haven for victims of abuse.
Our advocates have provided shelter, compassion, and life-saving care to more than 75,000 Rhode Islanders.
On May 29th at our annual breakfast— an event long known as the Sojo Mojoe Breakfast— we plan to honor this fifty year legacy while discussing the future of victim advocacy.
In 1976, when our work began, federal laws did not yet safeguard our neighbor’s right to live free from violence. In most areas of the United States, marital rape was still legal, no-fault divorce did not exist, victims of stalking could not obtain restraining orders, and the few domestic violence shelters that existed were in their infancy.
We have seen incredible progress since that day, but with nearly 1 in 2 Rhode Islanders still experiencing intimate partner violence, our work is far from finished.
Our 50th Anniversary Breakfast will not just be a celebration of the past, but a look into the future of the anti-violence movement.
Keynote Speaker: Kristen Gibbons Feden
We are thrilled to announce that our keynote speaker will be Kristen Gibbons Feden, a nationally celebrated trial attorney and leader in the #MeToo Movement, known for her fearless advocacy on behalf of the victims of Bill Cosby and R. Kelly.
